Dear Friends,
In Iran, a ruling regime is using the power of the state to crush the very idea that faith should be freely chosen. Churches are raided. Pastors disappear into prisons. Believers are interrogated, beaten, and threatened—not for crimes of violence, but for worship, prayer, and the words of Scripture spoken in private homes.
And all of this was happening long before the protests began.
Today, millions are protesting a regime that rules by fear—a regime that shuts down the internet, turns off electricity, floods the streets with armed forces, and imprisons and even executes those who dare to resist.
While a failed economy and hyperinflation have sparked widespread protests, a much deeper problem exists. There is a spiritual reality where the powers of darkness have tried, unsuccessfully, to wage war on God and snuff out the followers of Christ.
This week I was able to speak to our primary Iranian ministry partner. He was tired. He’s been up all hours of the night speaking with underground church leaders.
This situation for the church is difficult; it has been difficult for decades and has been getting progressively worse. Currently eight Christians within his network are in prison simply for owning a Bible.
Yet the leaders are demonstrating love. They have a Biblical worldview and mandate. They may protest, but they refuse to resort to violence. And they continue to take every opportunity to share the Gospel.
