Stop Buying “AI Stocks” and Start Buying These VIEW IN BROWSER By Jason Bodner, Editor, Quantum Edge Pro Most people think they know what an “AI stock” looks like. They picture companies that loudly brand themselves as AI leaders, dominate headlines, and trade at nosebleed valuations. The textbook case is Nvidia (NVDA) and its CEO, Jensen Huang. It’s easy to picture Huang onstage in his trademark leather jacket, saying “AI” 10 times a minute and showing off the company’s newest hardware to deafening applause. Most investors go straight to this image when they think of AI stocks. But some of the best AI stocks aren’t as obvious. And they’re outperforming marquee stocks like NVDA as we speak. These companies may not advertise themselves as AI stocks, and they don’t fit the popular narrative. Yet AI is deeply embedded in their products, operations, and long-term growth prospects. And that’s worth just as much – maybe even more – than the headline names. I call these companies “secret AI stocks.” And whether you know they’re AI stocks or not, Wall Street’s biggest institutions absolutely do… and they’re buying hand over fist. What Big Money Knows That You Don’t Those massive institutions move stocks, whether we like it or not. The gobs of money they invest every day make up between 70% and 90% of trading volume. Investing with those tidal waves of money gives you a huge advantage. The challenge is finding those waves. I built my Quantum Edge System to do exactly that. And the only reason I was able to build it is because my years handling trades from Wall Street’s whales taught me the tricks they use to keep their activity quiet – and how to find them. I can see where the Big Money is flowing across the market, across sectors, and down to the individual stocks. That also allows me to spot themes Big Money is chasing. Secret AI stocks is one of those themes. Here’s the perfect example… Most investors would not associate Carpenter Technology (CRS) with artificial intelligence. CRS is a leader in high-performance alloys used in aerospace, defense, medical devices, and other critical applications in demanding environments. It looks like a traditional industrial materials firm. The company has been around for more than 135 years. Its materials were used on Apollo 11, which landed on the moon in 1969. Carpenter also supplied stainless steel for the Statue of Liberty renovation in the 1980s. But here’s the context that unlocks the full picture today. AI is increasingly embedded deep inside defense and aerospace systems. That includes advanced sensors, radar, autonomous platforms, propulsion systems, and next-generation aircraft. These AI-enabled systems operate in extreme environments, under enormous stress, and with virtually zero tolerance for failure. That creates a critical need for specialty materials. And that’s where Carpenter comes in. CRS supplies the materials that make AI-enabled hardware possible. - Defense and aerospace platforms are becoming more sophisticated and software driven. The physical demands on their components are rising right along with them. Advanced alloys aren’t optional. They are essential.
- In 3-D printing – or “additive manufacturing” in the industrial context – AI-driven design tools are accelerating demand for advanced metal powders that can produce complex, high-performance parts.
- In next-generation data center hardware, rising power density and thermal stress are increasing the value of materials engineered for durability and reliability.
- And in medical technology, AI is being embedded into imaging systems, robotics, and precision devices. Materials matter more than ever for reliability and performance.
These aren’t headline-grabbing AI markets. But as AI moves deeper into the physical world, the need for advanced materials increases. The Quant Data Lines Up For any stock I recommend, AI or not, I need to see superior fundamentals, strong technicals, and Big Money buy signals in my Quantum Edge system. CRS checked all those boxes when I recommended it to my Quantum Edge Pro readers 16 months ago. Shares have more than doubled for us, and the data points to more upside ahead. And yes: This unknown stock nearly doubled the performance of NVDA over the same stretch of time. The Quantum Score is stellar at 93.2. This is the overall rating my system assigns to each stock that tells us instantly whether a stock is likely to move higher. I like to buy when the score is above 85, so CRS’s score is optimal. The Quantum Score factors in the key fundamentals, technicals, and money flows that are predictive of future price movement. Carpenter’s fundamentals and technicals both rate in the 90s. Think of those like “A” ratings. As for Big Money, it has been scooping up CRS shares for much of the past year. Those green bars on the chart below show days of unusual buying – or Big Money buy signals. You can see a flurry of green bars from early May to early July, then another stretch of steady buying that began in October. Source: MoneyFlows.com There are just two red bars on that chart, which is noteworthy. Those are Big Money sell signals. The first was in April when everything sold off in the tariff tantrum. The only other was early September, and shares didn’t move much. One other point that makes CRS somewhat of a secret AI stock: Demand isn’t driven by consumer trends, app cycles, or headlines that can send stocks flying or falling. It’s tied to defense modernization, aerospace innovation, and national security priorities – areas where spending is structural and persistent. The market may see an industrial materials company in Carpenter Technologies, but beneath the surface, its products are quietly riding one of the most powerful technological shifts of our time. Big Money is also aggressively buying Lam Research (LRCX) right now. It is a semiconductor company, and hardware companies have been on fire to start 2026. Most people think of Nvidia and AMD when thinking of chip companies, but LRCX is more in the background. It makes the equipment that makes advanced chips possible. Without Lam’s equipment, chipmakers cannot produce the cutting-edge processors that are in such high demand right now to power AI data centers. Institutions are on board. The Quantum Edge system picked up 10 buy signals in the last six weeks, during which time shares shot up 44%. Source: MoneyFlows.com LRCX’s high Quantum Score of 95.9 confirms the high probability of higher prices. As AI becomes a part of almost everything, the opportunities in secret AI stocks will get bigger and bigger. I’ll talk more about this in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned. Talk soon,
Jason Bodner Editor, Quantum Edge Pro Disclosure: Jason Bodner holds shares of Lam Research (LRCX) at the time of this writing. In Case You Missed It Everyone’s watching Nvidia. But there’s one number that matters more — one that appeared 39 days before the COVID crash, 6 weeks before the dot-com collapse, and 8 weeks before 2008. It’s rising again right now. See what it means for your portfolio. Watch the urgent presentation here. |
