What do you think? Is it better purchase a cheap motorbike for missionaries who risk their lives? Or should we provide quality equipment for those who serve on the front lines of evangelism? Read Steve’s email below to see what our friends at RevelationMedia think.

The Critical Need of Evangelists in Malawi
Dear Friends,
In Malawi, under the leadership of Brother “Ben,” we support eight full-time workers who daily use our solar-powered tablets and iBIBLE content. This has resulted in many salvations, new Bible studies and youth meetings being launched, and even evangelization of entire villages.
This may seem typical, but it is not. These workers risk their lives to evangelize Muslims of the Yao tribes who have persecuted Christians, burned churches, and even martyred family members who accepted Christ.
This week I received a message from Brother Ben asking if we could help with funding for a motorbike. I had two initial concerns with his request. The first was I needed to know exactly what he needed it for.
Ben explained, “We travel into very remote areas that cannot be accessed by car. And currently we must pay [like an Uber] to get a ride in. And sometimes we must get out quickly because of the persecution. And most importantly, we sometimes must rush to get a persecuted Christian to the hospital. The drivers we rent will not do this because they are Muslim.”
Ben’s last need hit me hard. I imagined a Christian being beaten and no one in the village wanting to take them to the hospital. In this case, the motorbike becomes an ambulance!
Many people in Malawi are Muslim and live in remote villages only accessible by motorbike.
When I had my widowmaker heart attack in 2020, my wife rushed me to the hospital. We would have called 911, but we live in the country, and it can be hard to find our address. I can’t imagine having to wait for an Uber!
When I fully understood Ben’s request, I immediately said yes, we would provide Ben’s team with at least one motorbike.
My second concern was that Ben was asking for help to buy a cheap Chinese motorbike that wasn’t even built for off-road travel. I have this pet peeve that organizations always seem to give locals the cheapest equipment. It never made sense to me. And Brother Ben already knew this.
I asked Ben what a quality motorbike would cost and if he could buy a Yamaha off-road motorbike. He told me that those were very expensive and only the Western workers of the large organizations had those. How disappointing.
A representation of the motorbike(s) we plan to purchase for Brother Ben’s team.
So today we are raising funds to buy Brother Ben and his team a quality off-road motorbike like the one pictured. What do you think? Should we have approved a cheap Chinese knock-off, or should we buy a quality motorbike that will be dependable and last for years and even decades?
I am also committing to provide enough funds for fuel for the year. Some of Ben’s workers survive on a salary of less than $100 a month!
I hope you share this same vision. I welcome your comments. If you want to sponsor the total cost of a motorbike for Ben’s team, please let me know by email at info@revelationmedia.com. We don’t know the full cost yet, but we know it will be around $5,000 for a quality Yamaha off-road motorbike. They are extremely expensive in Malawi due to import taxes.
Any donation will help, and we will follow up with all those who donate showing what we eventually purchase. Ben is only asking for a single motorbike (he is a very humble man), but I know he could use at least three, and we will provide for the full cost of keeping them running for all of 2026.

RevelationMedia is not a large ministry. We do not have access to any government or corporate funding. We are funded solely by individuals like you and occasional grants from foundations.
We must make every dollar go as far as possible. However, I have never cut corners when it comes to supporting the field. We print quality books; we go the extra mile in providing quality recordings for our content. And I want to go the extra mile in providing Ben’s team, who risk their lives to bring Muslims to Jesus, with quality motorbikes.
Some may disagree with my approach. However, in my lifetime, I have witnessed ministries often giving the lowest quality equipment to the field, saying “It is good enough” while spending thousands on flights and nice hotels. I am not saying all ministries do this, I am just saying it is not uncommon.
I hope you will join me today in helping provide one or more Yamaha off-road motorbikes for Brother Ben’s team. He doesn’t even know we are wanting to purchase more than one. These motorbikes will save money, further their evangelism efforts (even to Muslim persecutors), and may even save a life!
A motorbike or three will greatly increase the effectiveness of Brother Ben’s team in Malawi, who currently pay for rides into Muslim areas where cars cannot go. Each quality off-road bike, costing around $5,000 (including fuel for a year), can take missionaries to remote Yao villages and transport injured persecuted Christians to the hospital for life-saving care. Please consider donating to cover all or part of the cost of a motorbike today!
