Retail investors just bid $1.2 trillion for $904 million of stock. |
Unitree Robotics (private) closed the books on its Shanghai IPO this week. The retail portion was reportedly more than 8,000 times oversubscribed — with individual investors submitting 9.8 million orders. |
The company sold 40.4 million shares at 150.8 yuan (about $22), raising roughly $904 million at a $9 billion valuation. Shares are expected to begin trading on Shanghai's STAR Market this month. |

Let’s put this in perspective. SpaceX IPO — the largest in history — was about 4x oversubscribed. |
Unitree is China's leading humanoid robot maker. You may have seen its robots dancing at China's Spring Festival Gala or performing martial arts on America's Got Talent. |
But this isn't just a viral video company. |
Unitree shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots last year — the most of any company in the world. Revenue hit 1.7 billion yuan (about $252 million) in 2025, up more than 4x from the prior year. The company is profitable. |
That's rare in humanoid robotics, where most players are burning cash. |
The strategic investor list explains some of the frenzy. DeepSeek — the AI lab that rattled US tech stocks — took a 2.31% stake with a three-year lockup. Investment arms of China National Petroleum, China Southern Power Grid, and China Telecom also bought in. Nvidia selected Unitree's H2 robot as the first robotics system it sells to researchers. |
The valuation is steep: roughly 36x sales, compared with about 20x for Hong Kong-listed peers like UBTech. |
And there's a real risk on the table. The FCC banned new foreign-made humanoid robots last month. Overseas sales were more than 40% of Unitree's revenue in 2025. And the robots won’t be allowed in the lucrative U.S. market. |
The frenzy is already spilling into US markets. Lidar maker Ouster (Nasdaq: OUST) jumped 7% Tuesday. Teradyne (Nasdaq: TER) and Symbotic (Nasdaq: SYM) each gained about 3%. Aeva Technologies (Nasdaq: AEVA) is up 29% over the past week. |
Humanoid robots are still a tiny market. Only about 15,000 units were deployed worldwide last year. But $1.2 trillion in orders for one IPO tells you where investor appetite is heading. |
A wave of robot IPOs is lining up behind Unitree. Agibot, Leju Robotics, and LimX Dynamics are all pursuing listings in China and Hong Kong. |
One America’s robotics company is backed by Nvidia and Amazon. It’s preparing to go public before December 2026. And today, you can secure Pre-IPO shares for just $10. |
