OpenAI is building an iPhone killer. |
It’s an important move for the #2 AI company. OpenAI confidentially filed for an Initial Public Offering – targeting a valuation of at least $1 trillion. |
Here’s how to secure OpenAI Pre-IPO shares – at a discount to the Nasdaq IPO price. |
New details leaked this week about the company's first hardware device. And the design is unlike anything on the market. |
Bloomberg reports the device is a smart speaker — with no screen. It's shaped like a doughnut, roughly the size of a hockey puck, and built from premium metal. |
It even has moving parts. The device physically responds when it's listening and talking. The goal is to make it feel alive — more like a companion than a gadget. |
The price: $300 to $400 per unit. For comparison, most Amazon smart speakers sell for $40 to $240. |
The device comes from Jony Ive's LoveFrom studio. Ive is the man who designed the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. OpenAI acquired his hardware startup last year. |
Here’s what the new OpenAI device might look like… |

The release is planned for 2027. And OpenAI's long-term ambition is bigger than speakers. The company wants to eventually build a device that replaces the smartphone entirely. |
That ambition has already triggered a fight. |
Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is suing OpenAI, claiming the company stole trade secrets — including a confidential metal-finishing technique from one of Apple's longtime suppliers. OpenAI filed a motion to dismiss on Wednesday, calling the claims vague and speculative. |
Apple is also seeking an injunction. If granted, it could delay the device's launch. |
Why does this matter for investors? |
OpenAI filed confidential IPO paperwork on June 8. The offering could be among the biggest of 2027. And a hardware business would give the company a second revenue engine beyond ChatGPT subscriptions — the same playbook that turned Apple into a $3 trillion company. |
There are real risks. Smart speakers have historically been money losers — Amazon reportedly lost billions on its Alexa devices. A $400 price point is a hard sell in a category built on $50 gadgets. And the Apple lawsuit hangs over the entire project. |
But if anyone can make an AI device a must-have product, it's the team that built ChatGPT — paired with the designer who built the iPhone. |
CEO Sam Altman says OpenAI will go public at above a $1 trillion valuation. And the stock could jump when it starts trading. |
That’s why I’m investing before the stock starts trading. And I’m going to show you how to invest in OpenAI, Anthropic and dozens of other private stocks before the IPO day. |
