Jeff Bezos has been retired since 2021. |
Yet he just became co-CEO of a $41 billion AI startup. And JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock are already investing with billion dollar checks. |
Here’s how to invest now – and “front-run” the Initial Public Offering. |
Company: Prometheus (private) Co-CEOs: Jeff Bezos and Vik Bajaj Valuation: $41 billion Total raised: more than $18 billion Latest round: $12 billion Series B in June, 2026 |
Prometheus is building what Bezos calls an "artificial general engineer." |
Silicon Valley leaders including Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Jensen Huang are all investing billions in AI Phase 3. |
Phase 1 was chatbots that answer questions. Phase 2 is AI agents that operate software. And Phase 3 is AI that designs builds for the physical world with automation and robotics. |
Bezos’ goal is to cut the time it takes to design and build complex hardware by 10 times or more. |
That takes enormous computing power, plus data the company has to generate itself. Which explains the fundraising. |
Prometheus launched last November with $6.2 billion. Bezos was the single largest investor in that round – reportedly investing $5 billion. In June, the company raised an additonal $12 billion at a $41 billion valuation. And Bezos put more money in again. |

The rest of the investor list includes Wall Street’s most respected firms – JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM), Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) and BlackRock (NYSE: BLK). |
The plans at Prometheus may get even bigger. Bezos and Bajaj have reportedly held talks to raise as much as $100 billion for a related investment fund. It would buy industrial businesses and upgrade them with Prometheus tools. |
Today Prometheus has about 150 employees in San Francisco, London and Zurich. In August it leased a former steel warehouse in West Oakland for industrial work. |
It hasn't released a product. And there's no IPO on the calendar. Asked about going public in June, Bezos said it was "too early to think about that." |
That hasn’t stopped Wall Street’s biggest investors from putting in billions. And you can too. |
